Get to Know Jason
I am running for City Council because we need our city government to work for the people. I believe the city’s job is to make Santa Barbara a safer, cleaner, and more affordable place to live for everyone. I will serve our community and create transparency in our government, while being personally accessible to my constituents.
As a child I spent summers and holidays in Santa Barbara, and for the past 20 years I’ve called it my home. I started running my business here as an electrical contractor in 2008. My partner was born in Santa Barbara and grew up in the sixth district. I believe in giving back to the community that supports us, we actively fundraise for local causes and nonprofits.
The problems we face together are solvable. We need a local government that works for us.
Safety and Cleanliness
Many of the residents and business owners I've talked to over the last several months are concerned about the increasing rate of homelessness and its effects on our community. As a downtown resident, I share their concerns. I am working with local leaders to come up with compassionate, common-sense solutions to this growing problem.
Affordability and Cost of Living
Santa Barbara is a uniquely beautiful place to live but it's becoming increasingly difficult for workers, businesses, and residents to keep up with the soaring cost of living. I believe we need a city government that can work with our community and provide services that meet the needs of everyone.
Increasing Transparency in Local Government
I believe in government that is transparent to the people, especially when it comes to spending practices. I will work to increase transparency so that everyone can understand how our money is being spent.
Partnering with Local Business
I began my campaign walking the streets of the sixth district and talking to the residents, workers, and business owners. Many businesses expressed frustrations with what it was like for them to work with the city. I believe that the city should partner with local business owners, especially given the challenges of the last several years.
